Road Trips

We just got back from enjoying a fun trip to Washington to spend Thanksgiving at Lacy's house, all together! With that drive came lots of memories of all the different road trips we got to take growing up, traveling to different fairs and other such dairy business. There were so many that I culd almost do a post for each one and have a small book! But there are a few that stick out in my mind.

When we were really young we had a grey Ford with a flat bed...
One trip had Mom, Dad and Grandma Moser in the seat, for some reason I don't remember Grandpa; maybe he drove his truck? Anyways, Tyler was young enough that mom could still hold him. I remember we left in the evening and Lacy and I were put behind the seat- it was only a single cab truck. It didn't feel all that cramped back then, and I remember laying behind mom and Lacy behind dad, to sleep. Now, I realize there really wasn't a whole lot of room there, we were both just tiny enough to fit! A random part of this memory is just starting the drive and I heard mom tell Grandma that Tyler just crashed (fell sleep) because he got really heavy.

Then, of course, there was the epic (and I feel epic is a justified word here!) trips that found the kids riding in the back of the COW TRAILER!!! I still can't believe we did that! We were told to be super quiet if we pulled over (hmm, wonder why that was haha!) and at night, if we needed anything while driving we were supposed to shine a flashlight through the small trailer window into the truck. I remember shining that light a few times; I imagine mom and dad got pretty frustrated with all the likely unnecessary stops we caused. We really had fun riding back there, having the room to play and even the option to go to the bathroom in one corner of the trailer. I even remember Grandpa Moser riding back there with us for a while! Oh, and on one of these trips mom and dad told us that one night we tailed a bear down the road.
Dad and Mom's Edit: This was a trip to Madison, WI with mom and Teddy Papageorge where they were attending the "grand national show of all shows." Mom was driving through this ice storm, Teddy Papageorge was asleep, opened his eyes and said, "Glad I'm not driving." and went back to sleep.

Road trips, some were longer than others, and I know we probably got pretty crazy at some points, but we somehow managed without all of today's technology that our kids get to enjoy...that's right kiddos, no DVD's, iPods, Leap Pads etc that save mom's and dad's sanity like nowadays!
