Epic Tree House

How many kids can say they had a double story tree house with not only a very scary ladder to get to the top section, but also a fireman's pole for quick decent from the top! When Dad decides to make something he doesn't do it at a small scale, we have learned this time and time again. Mom probably wanted to kill him for building that for us! It was such a neat tree house. Dad used the front end loader to get high enough to build the foundation of the tree house. David was there too! I can't remember if any of us went up in the bucket with dad or not. I would have just hid in the bucket afraid for my life if I did.  The tree house basically had three levels. You could hide in the area near the base of the tree because the first story floor made a nice little roof for it. I preferred those two levels the best because lets be honest... I was scared of heights! I don't know how Ann and Lacy would cruise up and down that ladder without any hesitation. It scared me everytime I climbed it, but I didn't want anyone to know! Once you were to the top of the tree house we had some custom furniture that dad made for us. If my memory doesn't fail me, Ann and Lacy had little wooden chairs with bailing twine wrapped around them (for aesthetics of course). If you were looking towards the barn from the tallest level of the tree house, it made for a perfect look out! I'm still surprised none of us ever fell...

  2. Pretty sure once we stopped frequently climbing it as much that the raccoons found it to be a safe haven as well!
