Never Cry Wolf

Never cry wolf is a common story told to children in an effort to teach not to lie because of the consequences that can follow. We learned first “hand” about not crying wolf from Grandma Moser while camping one year. It was a beautiful summer day up in the mountains of Wolverine. We were camped at one of our usual spots. This particular day some red berries were found. If my memory serves me correctly it was Ann that found these berries and also learned that when these berries were popped that they had a very similar appearance to blood. “Tyler, Brian, come here” I’m sure Ann said. Who knows what she actually said, but we do know she called her two little minions over. Once she had shown us her findings and told us of her plan to smear the red berry juice all over our hands to make it look as if we had cut our hands all up, how could we resist!? After the prep work, Brian and I ran back towards the camper “Grandma, Grandma, help, help!”  We didn’t realize that what we thought to be such a funny joke wouldn’t be so funny to Grandma Moser. Brian and I were sat down and lectured about the boy (or in this case) the boys who cried wolf. I don’t believe Ann received any counseling for her idea. She had escaped yet again!
