Fast forward a few years (when Christmas eve was just as exciting) and I laugh when I think about Mom needing to head into Walmart early morning to avoid the rush on Christmas eve. The plan was for the two of us to wake up and go. No need to worry about doing our hair because we had that covered, literally, with a couple ridiculous hats. I had recently gotten a few boxes from Jer's mom which included some old pictures, clothing, and trinkets that belonged to Jer (who at the time was in Iraq which is why I lived at Dad's and Mom's). Mom wore a ridiculous Rugrat stocking hat, so ridiculous that I can't even remember the hat I wore! We flew through the grocery and last minute Christmas list and were standing in line to check-out. I looked up just in time to see Shauna Bodkin walk past. She glanced at us as she walked by and her eyes were as big as could be when she made her second look; realizing that she knew these two crazy looking creatures in these ridiculous hats. I turned away to avoid eye contact but had to laugh when the coast was clear while telling mom that we were caught looking like fools. Oh well, it was almost expected since we were going to WhalllMarrrt! Good memories!
