Lets rake some..HAY?

Who remembers the great windstorm of 64? Okay, it wasn't in 64... it was definitely sometime in the mid-late 90's but I do not recall the exact year. Dad had just recently had someone come by to cut all the grass hay in the fields. He wanted it cut so that by the time he got home (from some trip) that it would be ready to bale. Mother nature always has a different plan for farmers. While dad was gone we had a crazy windstorm that spread the grass hay ALL OVER! I remembered all of us helping rake as much of it as we could into big piles to salvage what we could. One particular pile that I remember was right near the road near where the apple trees are now. The reason why I remember this particular pile is because the dog we had at the time (possibly Nike?) would disappear into the pile of grass as well.

Speaking of wind storms...  One time while down at the barn helping dad do chores (or just playing while he did chores), a storm came in and we got to hang out in a grainery until it passed. That was the first time I remember hearing stories about the hook man and the radiated wolf! For years I thought those stories were true becuase mom and dad used names of actual people that we knew while telling the stories. Oh they got us good!
